I have been a mother for 2 years now and witnessing how a child behaves has been a rebuke of my view at life. Life through the eyes of a child seems so pure, free and with limitless possibilities. Children are so fascinating to watch and though they don’t have any history to reference their actions, there’s so much we can learn just by observation.
The day to day activities that my daughters embark on has changed my view of life and has made me more appreciative of who I am, what I have and has also made me realize that there’s so much I can still accomplish.
1 In the eyes of a child everything is new
The moment my daughter wakes up in the morning and her eyes meet with mine, she gets so excited and looks forward to playing and exploring. Life through my daughter’s eyes has taught me to view each new day with excitement and as an opportunity to learn, improve, explore and do better.
2 Children don’t care what people think of them
A child can fart, sing and scream anywhere. They can ask any question no matter how silly it may appear, as long as they will get their curious minds satisfied.
A week ago my little one and I went shopping for few supplies, while in the shop, she started singing without any care of what people would think, not long after she had an audience. How many things have you missed out on because you were worried about what people think of you? Have you reached your goals or you are so caught up in the ‘people pleaser net’?. Life through the eyes of a child is liberating.
3 Forgive easily
I have not met children (especially younger ones) who don’t talk to each other because of something that happened in the past. They forgive so easily and I find that very healthy. Matshona Dhliwayo says in one of his quotes
“An open heart has greater power than a clenched fist.”
Life would be sweeter if we could just forgive or overlook an offense.
4 Judge less and love more
At the playground, the mall children are generally open to building friendships and express their love openly without judging. Most of adults interactions are based on critical and biased reasons, hence they not so genuine.

5 The most beautiful way to start and end a day, is with a grateful heart. Sometimes we get so blinded by what we don’t have until we fail to realize and be grateful for what we have. I have not given our little what I wish I could but she is so grateful for what she has now.
How wonderful it would be if we all looked at life through the eyes of a child.
